Makhdoom is a quraishi clan found mainly in Punjab, Pakistan. Many members of the clan are involved in agriculture.a famous politician named makhdoom Mohammad Bukhs was also of this clan. == History == The Makhdoom clan derives its biological name from Makhdoom Burhanuddin quraishi hashmi ,who was born around the 13th century. Several family trees, including some descendents who do not call themselves Makhdooms.some claim that he was the descendent of kutb shah(aka)khokhar,ali ibne abi talibs family,but it can not be confirmed.Makhdoom Burhanuddin is of iraqi descent. Makhdoom buhanuddin was a near relative of famous sufi saint hazrat sakhi sultan bahu. Sultan-ul-Arifeen Sultan-ul-Faqr Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Bahoo Rehmat-ul-Allah Alayh had four wives One of his wives belonged to the family of Hazrat Makhdoom Burhan-ud-Din Ahmad resident of Langar Makhdoom Wala, District Jhang. Hazrat Makhdoom Burhan-ud-Din was a Sahib-e-Irshad (possessor of powers of guiding righteousness) mentor of the Soharwardia way. According to a tradition he was a Khalifah (spiritual successor) of Hazrat Baha-ud-Din Zikriya Multani, and according to another tradition he was his son. (Tazkara Auliya-e-Jhang In the 12th century Hazrat Makhdoom Burhanuddin and his friend Hazrat Syed Shabal were instructed by Hazrat makhdoom bahauddin zikraya suharwadya to go to jhang to preach Islam. The saints went there and they started preaching the people. Because of these saints, many in the area converted to Islam. Both saints were great Alam of Islam. They established a Darsgah at changranwala District jhang present chiniot district for giving Islamic education to the students and preaching of Islam. The Village is now known as Langar Makhdoom on the name of Hazrat Langar Makhdoom (Al Maroof Makhdoom Burhanuddin) Both saints began preaching Islam there, and again, many peoples of that area converted to Islam. Floods and disease used to cause havoc in the Langston Makhdoom area; however, after the arrival of Hazrat Langar Makhdoom, these difficulties ceased. Hazrat Langar Makhdoom died in Langar Makhdoom in 1245 CE (666 Hijri). He was buried in his mud dwelling hut according to his last will in Makhdoom Grave Yard near Village Changranwali Tehsile Lalian District Chiniot. His relatives are also buried in Makhdoom graveyard. Many other Karamat also belong to Hazrat Makhdoom Burhanuddin e.g. walking of Shesham trees from one place to an other place on the order of Hazrat Makhdoom Burhanuddin, and the visit of Lion to his grave in each month. By the blessing of Allah and by the Duwa of Hazrat Baba Fariduddin Ganjshakar (RA) there is one wali Allah in each family of Hazrat Makhdoom Burhanuddin (RA).
